I have been taking and making photos since 1948, starting with a Bolsey B3 35mm rangefinder camera and a makeshift darkroom. Since then I have had many 35mm and 6x6 cm cameras. I started in digital in 1999 with a 2 MP Nikon 950. The Waterlilies photo in my profile was taken with that camera: it earned a Best In Show award at the ABCPS Winter 2007 competition.
I joined ABCPS in 2005. I was immediately impressed with the spirit of the membership and the dedication and work of the volunteer committee leaders and members. That impression has remained in the years since. Another impression: the quality of the members' work entered in the competitions and shown at the meetings, though always high, has actually been improving.
I am a retired electronics engineer with experience in instrument design for nuclear and biomedical instrumentation, communications satellites, integrated circuit design and testing, technology consulting, and process quality management.
Doris, my adored wife of nearly 60 years, now split our living between Altoona in the summer and Florida in the winter. My other interests are the computer, scanning the internet, reading, biking, golf, football, tennis, and keeping up with the news, science and technology.
