About Me

I enjoy and have a curiosity about many types of photography, and also enjoy sharing knowledge and ideas. I work as a full time shooter selling fine art at nationally ranked art shows and licensing stock images into publication around the world.

About Me

Joined ABCPS in 1970. Have served as Secretary and Newsletter editor. Started early with Photoshop, and still do a lot with computer graphics. I think there is nothing like a fine Kodachrome slide, but have been completely digital for some years.

About Me

Born & raised in East Freedom. Graduated from Central High in June 68. In December 68 I received a letter saying that Uncle Sam wanted me. It was so nice to be wanted, NOT! I was an Infantryman in Vietnam from June 69 to June 70. Then I was a Finance clerk in Germany from July 70 to March 72. With everything considered the Army was a good experience, it brought about many positive changes in my character. I worked for the Commonwealth in Harrisburg for 32 years. The job was good, made lots of good friends but I "hated" Harrisburg. I am so happy to be out of there and back in East Freedom.

Retirement is so wonderful that I hope everyone gets to experience it.

I have been "playing" with photography for a long time. As a teenager I shot a few rolls with a Kodak Brownie. I was hooked but could not afford the hobby. While in the Army I purchased a Yashica Electro 35 Rangefinder. It was a very good camera. After the Army the Yashica broke and since I was unemployed I could not afford repairs or a new camera. So I took a 10 year break. Then in 1984 I purchased a Minolta X700 camera. And since then I have gone through a series on Minolta cameras. Then Minolta became Konica-Minolta. I purchased a Konica-Minolta 7D, a 6.1MP digital SLR. When it was time to upgrade to a new camera Konica-Minolta had been sold to Sony. The future of the Minolta lens mount was then in question. So I switched to Nikon with the purchase of a Nikon D80. Sony decided to keep the Minolta lens mount and since have produced some interesting SLRs, but nothing yet to entice me back. I still use the Konica-Minolta 7D.

About Me

My name is Rob Lynn.  I am a photographer in the Altoona Area, and a member of the ABCPS.  I specialize in portraits, and by client request, action photography.  I had never set out to become a sports photographer, however my involvement in the combat sport community has opened up those doors to me.  A few fight promoters and instructors had seen the work and now it seems if I'm not photographing portraits or weddings, I'm at a combat sporting event (MMA, Wrestling, Boxing and the like).

I love to chat about equipment, and photography.  If you like to chat too, send me an e-mail or look for me on facebook.

About Me

I joined the club in early 2011 around the time I purchased my first DSLR. I have always enjoyed creating various forms of arts and crafts, though my ambition usually far exceeds my ability. I became extremely interested in improving my minimal skills as a photographer after viewing the photos I had taken on a 2010 vacation to the "Big Island" of Hawaii. I was very disappointed with how poorly my photos represented the awe-inspiring beauty I experienced there. A friend of mine was once involved in the ABCPS many years ago and suggested I join as a means to learn from more experienced photographers. I am very glad I did because I know there is a wealth of knowledge in this group and have learned a lot already. Thank you all!

About Me

I have been taking and making photos since 1948, starting with a Bolsey B3 35mm rangefinder camera and a makeshift darkroom. Since then I have had many 35mm and 6x6 cm cameras. I started in digital in 1999 with a 2 MP Nikon 950. The Waterlilies photo in my profile was taken with that camera: it earned a Best In Show award at the ABCPS Winter 2007 competition.

I joined ABCPS in 2005. I was immediately impressed with the spirit of the membership and the dedication and work of the volunteer committee leaders and members. That impression has remained in the years since. Another impression: the quality of the members'  work entered in the competitions and shown at the meetings, though always high, has actually been improving.

I am a retired electronics engineer with experience in instrument design for nuclear and biomedical instrumentation, communications satellites, integrated circuit design and testing, technology consulting, and process quality management.

Doris, my adored wife of nearly 60 years, now split our living between Altoona in the summer and Florida in the winter. My other interests are the computer, scanning the internet, reading, biking, golf, football, tennis, and keeping up with the news, science and technology.

About Me

I've enjoyed recording photographic images since I obtained my first camera by sending in popcicle wrappers at the age of 8. I now shoot with a Sony Cybershot pocket digital and a Nikon D50 with an 18-200mm lens.
